Who is the employee's employer?

Your company. When a foreign company has no establishment and no tax number in Greece, the employee is registered with e-EFKA under an employer registration number (AME) in their own name and pays the contributions themselves (for EU employers, Article 21 of Regulation 987/2009). We handle the registration, the ERGANI filings, payroll and the monthly returns so that everything is done correctly. We do not employ the employee ourselves.

How quickly can we hire someone?

Once you’ve selected your candidate and provided the necessary details, we can typically onboard an employee within 5–10 business days. This includes the employment contract, e-EFKA registration, the ERGANI II filing and payroll setup.

What does it cost?

Total employer cost includes the gross salary, employer EFKA contributions (21.79%), mandatory 13th and 14th month salary (approximately 16.67% of gross), and our management fee. We provide a transparent, all-in quote before you commit.

Do we need a Greek entity later?

Not necessarily. Many companies employ staff in Greece this way for a long time. If your team grows or you start doing business here, a branch or a company may become necessary or more cost-effective. We advise you on the right moment and handle the formation.

How are employees paid?

Employees are paid monthly in EUR via Greek bank transfer, in full compliance with local payroll regulations. We handle all tax withholding, social security contributions, and payslip generation.

What about intellectual property?

Employment contracts include standard IP assignment clauses that transfer all work product rights to your company. We can also accommodate custom IP provisions based on your legal requirements.

Can we convert to our own entity?

Yes. When you're ready to set up a Greek entity, we manage the transition: transferring employees, preserving their tenure and benefits, and making sure work continues without interruption. We also handle the entity formation.

What happens if we need to terminate?

Greek labor law has specific rules around termination, including notice periods (1–4 months for contracts over one year, depending on tenure) and severance pay based on tenure. We manage the entire process in compliance with the law, minimizing risk for your company.
